The Skirt for man in the Gothic universe.

Gothic esthetism

dot  In our society, threatening for minority groups, aggressive by its technological projections, alienating by its media processes and its dictatorship of the pictures, the body remains a rampart to preserve, to find oneself, guarantor of a personal identity threatened by this technological and social environment. To be aware of their body, the Gothics will exacerbate their symbolic report with this one by expressing by clothing something of fundamental in their perception of the world. By the ornament, they nourish the body of symbols and cultivate it by symbols. The Gothic aesthetic universe expresses a rejection of rationalism to the profit of a personal passion. It is a means reaching a spirituality, considering reality differently and granting to the things a aesthetic major sens. The Gothic collective (concerts, exposures, dances) comes to support and reinforce this personal aesthetic research and to cause the will to open out in this aesthetic quest.

The Skirt in the male gothic look

dot  The black vision suggested by Gothic esthetics returns to certain topics (the Gothic architecture, the Christian art, the vampires, the cinema of the fantastic, black films) like to a constant search for an expression of beauty in the tension, the strange and the decline. The gothic look corresponds to a style at the same time more or less sober and elegant. The esthetism is an essential criterion. The black is the prevalent color. The long black coats, the overcoats, the leather jackets and trousers, the neat hairstyle constitute the "traditional" elements of the male look.

dot  In the other criteria of beauty specific to the Gothic medium, we can find the make-up for men or the port of the Skirt. For the Gothics, it will be seen like something of esthetics and not dressing-up. The sexual differences attenuate through the look and the ornament. The androgyne aspect is developed to be different from the other cultures (the rap for example) and to be opposed to the values traditionally (and wrongfully) associated the masculine: mass production in factories, wars, consumer society,... The Gothic vestimentary style can be difficult to assume: sometimes for its androgyne side , sometimes for his occult connotations or its dictatorship of colors. The people do not recognize the individuals as "Gothics" and consequently develop their own system of categories such for example associating the port of the Skirt to a latent homosexuality.

je porte des jupes et jupons des années 50/60 a la maison mais n'ose pas sortir habillé comme cela dans la rue. Par contre je sort habillé en kilt écossais le plus souvent possible se qui ne me gêne pas car j'adore porter des jupes plissée et bien sur les kilts
